Hole-In-One Bonus Pot
Should any player score a hole-in-one during the weekend, they will receive the running pot currently valued at $1087. Once this pot is claimed, it resets back to zero so this can only happen once per Final Foreplay event.
Handicap Procedures
New this year each player will be assigned a handicap. The purpose of the handicaps is so that different skill level golfers can compete against each other. The handicaps will be assigned as follows:
- Each player should submit their handicap to the Committee. If you do not have a handicap, make your best guess. Please keep in mind your handicap is not your “average.” Your USGA handicap index is the average, to par, of your best 8 rounds out of your last 20. Your handicap is basically what you are capable of shooting on a “good day.” If you play 10 rounds a year it’s probably your 2nd best score of the year. Handicaps need to take into account the forward tees for golfers over 65 – the score card suggests it is a 5-6 stroke advantage.
- The Committee will meet to review handicaps and may adjust your handicap in its sole discretion. Given how few have real USGA handicaps and how many compulsive liars we have in this group, handicap adjustments are likely so expect them. We know most of the golfers well. The Committee will endeavor to set fair handicaps relative to each other. This will likely result in you being assigned a handicap you don’t agree with. Deal with it.
- Your Friday handicap will be set by draft, as described below.
- Your handicap will adjust on Saturday and Sunday. If you lose your match on Friday, your handicap will be increased by one; if you win your match your handicap will be decreased by one. This same method will also be implemented after your Saturday round (total potential adjustment is +/- 2 strokes).
Draft Procedures
- Captains will draft teams similarly as in 2019.
- The live draft will be held on September 15th at Rusty Bucket at 6pm. It will be streamed via WhatsApp.
- The draft will proceed as a standard draft except with two exceptions:
- Each captain will draft a player at his stated handicap. With the next pick, the other captain has the option of either picking a new player, or “stealing” the player just drafted at a handicap one lower than that at which he was selected. Then, the first captain can either pick a new player or “steal back” the player selected with a handicap even lower. For example, if Josh Kain is designated as a 5 handicap and is picked first, the other captain can take Josh at a 4 handicap and then the first captain can steal him back at a 3 handicap and so forth, until another player is picked at which point Josh Kain may not be “stolen” again and his handicap will have been established.
- Two of Josh, Justin, John and Pat must be on each team. Whichever team picks two of these first, it means the other team will have to pick the other two. They can therefore pick those last as they will be automatic picks (keep in mind this means their handicap may not adjust). Alternatively we could just have John/Justin and Pat/Josh be co-captains.
Overriding Rules and Regulations
Unless otherwise noted above, USGA and local rules apply. The Rules Committee (John H, Pat H, Justin H. and Josh H.) will make a final non-appealable determination as to any protests or rules controversies and reserve the right to interpret, alter or waive any rules in their sole discretion. In the event of an injury or early departure, the Rules Committee reserves the right to adjust the format or provide any relief or penalty it deems appropriate in their sole discretion. In the event the overall match is tied, the Rules Committee may determine an appropriate tie-breaker.
